GRACE
AND
PEACE
Pastor T.J. (Tony)
and Veronica De La Garza
Hello. I'm glad we're able to connect via the web. As you're searching for a pastor; and as I'm currently seeking to serve a local church as a spiritual leader, I put this simple page together as a snapshot of my life. Its intention is for you to get to know me, my family, my past experiences, and my dreams/vision for the future a little better.

ME
I am a Pastor and local church practitioner
I have been all my life.
I've always been the one to search for,
reach out to, and include others on this journey.
From the first moments of my salvation experience(s) in high school, I've always had a drive to make sure those around me understood and experienced the Scriptures because they are the revelation of Jesus Christ. Since 1998, I've been involved with church work and the last 20 years serving the local church as a Pastor with children, students, families, and congregations in California, Washington, and Texas.
FAMILY
Veronica and I have been married since November 7, 1998. We married young (18 & 19) and grew up together. Both of us stem from seasonal migrant farm working families that ended up in the Central Valley of California; were born and raised around the Fresno area; and were saved in the same inner-city church, Cornerstone Church. We have two children: a son Ezra (a '22 Nelson University graduate who's looking at grad school/seminary/recently married, and a music director at The Oaks Church in Red Oak, TX), and a daughter, Eliya (who is also attending Nelson University studying History, and a Resident Advisor for a hall of students). Both of them are heavily involved in their own churches and in the North Texas Youth Ministries.

EDUCATION
My desire for formal education was to become as fully equipped as possible so that one could pastor, lead, and teach in a local church faithfully in a modern context. I am passionate about (as Jonathan Edwards said "paraphrased") learning to love God with my heart and mind...to express love for God through my affections and attentions while currently standing in faith consistently with Christian/Church history. I didn't consider college until my last semester of my Senior year of high school. It wasn't until 12 years later that I would sit in my first college class. That process was one of the most difficult things I have done. Since then I have earned a MATM from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Masters of Divinity from Winebrenner Theological Seminary. (pictured is me, some of my classmates, and one of my professors Dr. John Goldingay).
